UFC to Get Instant Replay

brock_lesnar_ufcEven Major League Baseball has succumbed to the pressure of having instant replay used during the game. And the Ultimate Fighting Championship could very well be next. The Nevada Athletics Commission has approved the use of instant replay in mixed martial arts fights, and many are saying this system will soon be utilized in the UFC, especially since the action came because of two recent fights.

The system, however, won’t be used to review possibly arguable decisions by the referee, such as whether a fighter was really knocked out. The Commission has only approved replay to be used in cases in which a fight is ended by a possibly illegal strike.

The two fights that really helped bring this measure along were the Cro-Cop vs. Al-Turk at UFC 99 and the Johnson-Burns at TUF 8 fights. In both instances, the loser was poked in the eye before being knocked out and the referee missed the call.
